Applications

- Moulds and tooling, subject to grade
- The carbon refractory is made from coke, anthracite or graphite with tar, then shaped and fired at 1450°C in a reducing atmosphere. The material is susceptible to oxidation.
- Listed uses include magnesium-electrolysis anodes, graphitization-furnace conductive parts, blast-furnace hearths, bearings and seals, and resin-impregnated graphite heat exchangers.
- Material options include isostatically pressed, molded, extruded and vibration-molded graphite, together with impregnated and oxidation-resistant processed grades. Their properties differ by production route.
